The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle

The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle begins with the marvelous letter at the beginning of the book. If you are not hooked yet, then you’ll never be. It was true she was found guilty and sentenced to death. Just wait until you see what happens.

The beginning of the book can be misleading. Can you believe that the “prime” little Charlotte is capable of such a crime?

You should have read Chapters 1-3. The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is a book about a very prime and proper girl living in the past. Children at this time in history were supposed to be seen and not heard. Charlotte is in a rare position where she may have some freedom from adult supervision and traditional values.

Please share a prediction, question, and at least one text connection.
